Radiology Tech - X-Ray Tech

Perform diagnostic radiographic procedures to produce high-quality images for interpretation. Prepare patients, position anatomy correctly, select exposure factors, and ensure radiation safety and image quality in the radiology department or imaging center.

Collaborate with radiologists and technologists to complete exams efficiently while maintaining patient comfort and safety in a fast-paced clinical setting.

Responsibilities

Perform standard radiographic exams (e.g., chest, extremities, abdomen) with proper positioning and technique
Adjust equipment and exposure settings to optimize image quality and minimize patient dose
Prepare, transfer, and shield patients; verify identity and exam requirements
Process and verify images, ensure correct labeling, and maintain equipment readiness
Document procedures and findings per department policy
Collaborate with radiologists and nurses to meet exam goals
Maintain infection control and radiation safety standards
Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement activities

Qualifications

Education:

Associate degree in Radiologic Technology or equivalent program from an accredited school.

Licensure:

State licensure or pending eligibility; ARRT certification is commonly required for qualification to practice.

Certifications:

ARRT - Radiography
CPR

Experience or Skills:

Strong technical skills in image generation, positioning, and patient communication; proficiency with PACS and radiology information systems.

Experience

Experience performing diagnostic radiography in hospital or outpatient imaging centers
Experience maintaining image quality and following safety protocols

Preferred

Experience with digital radiography and fluoroscopy

Work Environment

Imaging department or outpatient imaging center with ongoing patient flow and collaboration with radiology staff.

Moderate pace; shift patterns may include days, evenings, or weekend coverage; documentation in the electronic health record is standard.
