Land Survey Technician

Seeking a tech to learn how to run survey GPS, robotic total stations, and learn about land surveying.

Job description/experience:

• Full time Mon-Fri, in person, with occasional over-time available.

• Work outdoors in all weather conditions.

• Clean driving history required.

• Pre-employment drug test is required.

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs

• Ability to stand for long periods and walk over uneven terrain.

• This position is part of a land survey field crew. Field crew travel from our office to the project sites to collect the existing features which will be drawn into a map for future site design projects.

• Field crew technicians work with a crew chief and will have opportunity to learn how to run survey GPS, robotic total stations, and learn about land surveying.

• Carrying survey instruments, using sledge hammers to drive rebar and wooden stakes into the ground, use shovels etc. to uncover property corner markers, taking job notes and site photos, and driving company vehicles while assisting the crew chief in conducting land surveys.

• Projects range from residential boundary surveys, to construction layout, to commercial site surveys, to wooded farm lot surveys.

• Field crew works under the direction of a licensed professional land surveyor on job sites, away from the home office daily.

• Overnight travel out of town is occasionally required for trips lasting up to a week at a time. All travel is by company vehicle starting and ending day from our office in Warrendale.

• No prior land survey experience is required (though certainly a plus); but a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and dependability are musts.
