Emergency Department Technician - Emergency Department, Per Diem, Night Shift

The Health Unit Coordinator/Certified Nursing Assistant is responsible for clerical functions in the Emergency Department and assists in the care of hospital patients, under the direction of a Registered Nurse and medical staff. The HUC/C.N.A. acts as a receptionist and patient registration clerk, performs tasks necessary to schedule patients, coordinates communication and is a messenger for the nursing staff. This position helps to facilitate and support the nursing philosophy, goals and objectives at Island Hospital and supports nurses and physicians in providing quality patient care. Location Anacortes, WA, Onsite Schedule Per Diem / Night Shift Salary $22.42/hr - $33.30/hr Night Differential - $2.25 Evening Differential - $1.65 Weekend Differential - $1.50 For information on Employee Benefits and SEIU Contract. What you will be doing: Transport patients to rooms or treatment rooms using a wheelchair or stretcher, or assist them to walk. Obtain and document vital signs including blood pressure, heart rate, respiration rate, temperature and pain level, and place appropriate patients on the cardiac monitor. Answer call lights and determine patients’ needs. Assist patients as needed (dress and undress patients, assist with toileting, etc.). Assist with various examinations and treatments including but not limited to pelvic exams, chest tube placements, wound care, laceration repair, and closed reduction of limbs. Verify discharge sheet against admission sheet for accuracy and return valuables such as glasses, hearing aids and items stored in a safe. Distribute charts of discharged patients appropriately. Place surgery pack and consent on chart when ordered. Takes specimens to lab; directs patients/visitors. Retrieve medical records on admits after hours. What you will bring to the role: Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant course of study. Current Washington State Certified Nursing Assistant registration. Current Basic Life Support Certification. Experience working in a busy clinical setting with changing priorities preferred.
