Outreach & Admission Coordinator, Black Honors College (BHC) Job no: 557866 Work type: Staff Location: Sacramento Categories: Unit 4 - APC - Academic Professionals of California, Probationary, Full Time, Student Services, On-site (work in-person at business location) Working Title Black Honors College (BHC) Outreach & Admission Coordinator Classification Title Student Services Professional II Position Summary Under the general supervision of the Dean, the BHC Outreach and Admission Coordinator works to engage and inform current and prospective students from preadmission to graduation in the educational and programmatic components and benefits of the Black Honors College. The Coordinator supports institutional progress on all initiatives for the Black Honors College. This involves collaborating with units such as Admissions & Outreach, New Student Orientation, and Academic Advising to develop and implement marketing and communication strategies, including related materials, that support these initiatives. Key responsibilities include creating and presenting information to Sac State staff, administrators, advisors, counselors, and students through events, presentations, workshops, and regional outreach to high schools and community colleges. The Coordinator reviews applications, provides conditional admissions, and collaborates with the Dean and staff on co‑curricular activities for BHC students. Qualifications Required Student services experience (e.g., advising, admissions and outreach, student programming or development). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment subject to frequent change. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to provide services to a diverse student population. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a diverse environment. Demonstrated ability to provide lead work direction to represented staff and student employees. Proficiency using standard office software packages such as Microsoft Office Suite. Familiarity working with school‑based record/data systems/software (e.g., PeopleSoft). Ability to apply moderately complex rules, regulations and procedures. Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents. Preferred Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects. Master's degree in counseling, clinical psychology, social work, higher education/leadership or a related field. Knowledge of the Black Honors College functions, structure and other outreach practices. Working knowledge of CSU policies and procedures regarding marketing/public relations. Working knowledge of marketing strategies. Experience working with student support programs and services that foster success. Conditions of Employment Satisfactory completion of the background check process. FLSA: Exempt (not eligible for overtime compensation). Anticipated Hiring Range: $5,083 per month. CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,083 per month – $7,228 per month. Work Hours: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with occasional evenings and weekends; Summer Hours (May – August) 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. with a 30‑minute lunch.
