Senior GIS Technician
Location: Milwaukee, WI
Position SummaryWe are seeking a Senior GIS Technician to support enterprise geospatial initiatives through advanced GIS data management, mapping, spatial analysis support, and quality assurance activities. This role is responsible for maintaining high-quality geospatial datasets and supporting GIS analysts, developers, engineers, planners, and business users.
Key Responsibilities- Compile, create, edit, update, and maintain spatial and attribute datasets.
- Perform advanced geoprocessing, spatial analysis, and GIS data conversion activities.
- Conduct QA/QC reviews to ensure geospatial data accuracy and consistency.
- Perform digitizing, raster scanning, georeferencing, and data transformation tasks.
- Create and maintain GIS metadata and documentation.
- Support map production and cartographic design initiatives.
- Validate and reconcile GIS data across multiple platforms and databases.
- Assist with field data collection and GIS integration activities.
- Advanced GIS data editing and maintenance experience
- Spatial data management expertise
- Knowledge of cartographic design principles
- Experience with QA/QC methodologies
- Vector and raster data processing skills
- Strong analytical and organizational abilities
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, Environmental Science, or related field
- 5+ years of GIS experience
- Experience with Esri ArcGIS products
- Familiarity with GPS and field data collection technologies
