Job Description:\n\nSoftware Engineer – Level 1\nLabor Category: Software Engineer (SWE) – \nWyetech is seeking a skilled Software Engineer – Level 1 to support the Secure the Enterprise initiative, focused on modernizing and automating enterprise security evaluation and authorization processes within a mission-critical Intelligence Community environment.\nAs a member of the Data Management practice, the selected candidate will work within a Scrum team to develop, deploy, and maintain new functionality for an enterprise-level cybersecurity tool. This initiative focuses on transitioning manual security evaluation and authorization processes to a more automated, streamlined model emphasizing continuous monitoring, assessment, network data gathering, and improved operational efficiency.\nThe ideal candidate will possess a strong background in analytics development, experience supporting data processing and software engineering activities, and a willingness to learn and work extensively with Apache Pig and/or PySpark. The engineer will play a critical role in ensuring reliable, accurate data delivery while supporting the development and sustainment of enterprise cybersecurity capabilities.Key Responsibilities\nAnalytics Development & Data Management\n\n \n Develop, maintain, execute, and optimize Pig and/or PySpark analytics supporting enterprise cybersecurity operations.\n \n Review data ingestion tickets and merge requests in collaboration with other developers.\n \n Investigate data ingestion issues to ensure information arrives accurately and reliably within the system.\n \n Develop and maintain analytics that support data processing, transformation, validation, and delivery to end users.\n \n Monitor day-to-day data operations and troubleshoot issues affecting data quality, availability, and processing.\n \n Develop queries and interfaces supporting existing and proposed databases and data repositories.\n \n Design and implement complex database queries and data repository interfaces.\n \n Identify opportunities to improve data processing efficiency, reliability, and operational performance.\n \n Collaborate with Data Management team members to develop and deploy new application functionality.\n\nSoftware Development & Engineering\n\n \n Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.\n \n Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and components.\n \n Modify existing software to implement new features, correct defects, and improve system performance.\n \n Develop and implement algorithms that meet or exceed system performance and functional requirements.\n \n Integrate existing software into new or modified systems and operating environments.\n \n Debug software applications, investigate problem reports, and implement corrective solutions.\n \n Analyze system performance standards, data usage, workflows, and technical requirements to develop effective software solutions.\n \n Apply software engineering principles and development methodologies appropriate to the project environment.\n \n Evaluate software reuse opportunities and integration of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) technologies.\n\nSoftware Integration, Testing & Quality Assurance\n\n \n Assist with developing and executing software test procedures.\n \n Review and test software components for compliance with design and performance requirements.\n \n Document testing results, software defects, and corrective actions.\n \n Support software integration, validation, troubleshooting, and deployment activities.\n \n Identify opportunities to improve software development processes and technical documentation standards.\n \n Collaborate with engineers and developers to resolve software integration and performance issues.\n \n Support continuous improvements to system functionality, stability, and maintainability.\n\nCybersecurity Automation & Enterprise Support\n\n \n Support the Secure the Enterprise initiative by developing software capabilities that automate security evaluation and authorization processes.\n \n Contribute to the development of workflows that streamline approvals, continuous monitoring, and assessment activities.\n \n Support software functionality enabling network data gathering throughout the project lifecycle.\n \n Develop and maintain data analytics supporting enterprise cybersecurity tools and operations.\n \n Assist with troubleshooting and resolving operational issues affecting data processing and system functionality.\n \n Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support application modernization and process improvements.\n\nAgile Development & Technical Collaboration\n\n \n Participate in Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, development activities, and technical reviews.\n \n Review merge requests and collaborate with other developers to maintain software quality.\n \n Work with system engineers and end users to understand requirements and resolve technical challenges.\n \n Write, review, and maintain software and system documentation.\n \n Recommend improvements to software development processes, standards, and documentation.\n \n Support code reviews, testing activities, and software deployment.\n \n Contribute to team development efforts and provide technical leadership when appropriate to the software development process.\nRequired Qualifications\n\n \n Active TS/SCI security clearance with current Full Scope Polygraph (FSP) is required.\n \n Seven (7) years of experience as a Software Engineer supporting programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.\n \n Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.\n \n Four (4) additional years of relevant software engineering experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree.\n \n Strong background in analytics development, including software solutions supporting data processing, transformation, or analysis.\n \n Willingness and ability to learn Apache Pig and/or PySpark for developing and maintaining data analytics.\n \n Experience analyzing user requirements and translating them into software design and performance specifications.\n \n Experience designing, developing, modifying, testing, and maintaining software applications.\n \n Experience debugging software, identifying defects, and implementing corrective solutions.\n \n Experience developing database queries and working with data repositories.\n \n Experience integrating software components into new or modified systems and operating environments.\n \n Experience supporting software testing, validation, troubleshooting, and performance improvements.\n \n Ability to develop and maintain technical documentation supporting software development projects.\n \n Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\n\n \n Experience with patch management and Information Assurance Vulnerability Alert (IAVA) tracking.\n \n Experience developing software and analytics using Python.\n \n Experience developing applications using Java.\n \n Experience with Scala for data processing and analytics development.\n \n Experience with Apache NiFi for data ingestion, transformation, and workflow automation.\n \n Experience with Ansible for automation, configuration management, and operational support.\n \n Experience working within an Agile or Scrum software development environment.\n \n Hands-on experience developing or maintaining Apache Pig and/or PySpark analytics.\n \n Experience supporting enterprise data management, data ingestion, and data quality validation.\n \n Experience developing software supporting cybersecurity operations and automated security assessment processes.\n \n Familiarity with large-scale data processing and distributed analytics environments.\nAdditional Software Engineering Capabilities\n\n \n Analyze user requirements and develop software design and performance requirements.\n \n Debug existing software
