Dental Assistant - Expanded Functions

Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Role: Provide clinical support in a dental practice, assisting doctors during procedures, maintaining patient flow, and ensuring a clean and organized environment. Responsibilities Assist with various treatment procedures and support the dental team. Prepare operatory rooms, sterilize equipment, and follow safety and infection control protocols. Take dental radiographs, assist with laboratory cases, and perform intraoral health scans. Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care. Support administrative tasks, including supply management and record keeping. Perform expanded functions such as coronal polishing and temporary crown fabrication, based on certification. Ensure emergency kits are maintained and comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and other regulations. Qualifications & Skills Current Dental Assistant license and state-specific certifications. Radiology (x-ray) certification and CPR/BLS certification. Minimum of 2 years’ chairside assisting experience. Proficiency in sterilization, infection control, and four-handed dentistry.
