Job Responsibilities

• Provides direct care to adult and geriatric LTC residents
• Provides supervision of residents who need supervision in performing their own ADL's and assist as needed
• Provide opportunities for residents to maintain their independence. Ambulates residents who are able to ambulate.
• Report to charge nurse or supervisor when ambulating becomes difficult or unsafe.
• ROM to maintain status of the resident as directed.
• Uses correct body mechanics when moving, lifting and transferring residents to promote safety of the resident
• Uses mechanical devices to assist with moving, lifting and transferring of residents to promote safety of the resident as well as themselves
• Communicate changes in resident's condition to appropriate members of the health care team
• Follow directions of charge nurse or supervisor with regard to implementing interventions to reduce pressure ulcer development
• Follow universal precautions for infection control
• Works to enhance resident satisfaction and addresses problems as they occur.
• Works to promote a positive atmosphere in LTC
• Works to emulate mercy Mission of Reverence, Integrity, Compassion, and Excellence each day.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Successful completion of state-approved certified nursing assistant training program required.
• Current/valid state issued Certified Nurse Assistant certification required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS) required.
