Division of Special Education

SPECIALIST, SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PROGRAM

38G (School Support Administrator, 0515) Under the general direction of the Director, Related Services and working under the Coordinator, Speech and Language Program, Division of Special Education, the duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists the coordinator with the formulation of practices and procedures regulating the Speech and Language Program Provides support, supervision, and performance evaluation of subordinate personnel Coordinates the functions and services of the Speech and Language Program in cooperation with other District offices, school site administrators, and teachers Provides assistance in the evaluation, selection, and effective use of speech and language instructional materials, equipment, and supplies Serves as a District representative in due process matters concerning speech and language issues Monitors service tracking and other data using the Welligent Management System Manages data tracking for the program as part of compliance monitoring Coordinates compensatory time for underserved students Assists staff with computer access and issues related to Welligent and web-based IEP system issues specific to the program Provides District-wide education and staff development for Speech and Language Program personnel Performs other duties as assigned

SALARY:

38G, (School Support Administrator, 0515) – B Basis ($110,981, – $138,149) – 221 paid days In the case of an annualized employee who is changing basis during the year, this change may result in an annualized “settlement” (i.e., the process by which the District resolves an under or overpayment). For employees who change basis during the school year, this basis change may prevent them from earning a full year of service credit. Selected individual may be subject to displacement due to norm allocation and seniority-based RIF provisions or due to budget limitations.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

At least five (5) years of successful, full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), with no fewer than three (3) years of which must have been in a position(s) working directly and primarily with students with speech and language disabilities An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard in Education or Speech-Language Pathology conferred by a regionally-accredited college or university Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework* *Applicants have one year to complete this requirement. DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:

A valid license issued by the California Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board A Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) In-depth knowledge of state and federal mandates regarding students with disabilities Excellent organizational skills and the ability to effectively use technology Excellent interpersonal skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong collaborative team building skills A valid California driver license and the use of an automobile to travel to sites throughout the District Applicants are advised that meeting the stated minimum requirements does not ensure an invitation to an interview.
