The Access Coordinator supports the success and full participation of students who may benefit from focused support and coordinated success efforts, including first-generation students, Pell-eligible students, students with disabilities, international students, commuter students, and students with diverse needs and experiences. This role serves as a central point of connection, helping students identify, access, and navigate the resources, accommodations, and support services available to them. The Access Coordinator collaborates across departments to coordinate and strengthen student success efforts, connect students with appropriate resources and opportunities, and foster an inclusive campus environment in which all students can thrive.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Student support and navigation: Serve as a primary point of contact for students with first-generation status, financial need, disability, international student status, and commuter circumstances; connect students to appropriate campus resources and follow up to confirm needs are met.
2. Disability Services Coordination: Support students with documented disabilities, assist with accommodation-related communication, and help ensure an accessible campus experience.
3. First-Generation and Pell-Eligible Student Support: Develop and coordinate programming, mentoring, and resources navigation designed to support the persistence and success of first-generation and Pell-eligible students.
4. International Student Support: Support international student services, including coordination related to the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) function, and connect international students to relevant campus and community resources.
5. Commuter Student Support: Develop programming, resources, and community-building opportunities to support the engagement, belonging, and success of commuter students.
6. Referral and Resource Navigation: Maintain current knowledge of campus and community resources related to access and equity, and make appropriate referrals and warm hand-offs for students.
7. Training and Supervision: Recruit, train, and supervise student workers and peer mentors who support access initiatives.
8. Collaboration: Build and maintain collaborative relationships across Student Life, Academic Affairs, Financial Aid, and other departments to coordinate holistic support for students.
9. Assessment and Evaluation: Track engagement and outcomes for supported student populations; use data to inform program improvements and report on impact.
10. Advising for student groups: Serve as the primary advisor for student groups that support Student Disability Services such as honor societies and disability advocacy organizations.
11. Committee Representation: Serve on the FSC Care Team and Cornerstone Council
12. Mentor Coordinator: Recruits, selects, trains and retains students for participation in the SDA mentor/mentee program.
13. Contributes to the success of the department by performing all other duties as needed to drive the vision, fulfill the mission, and abide by the values of the College.

EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS

1. Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
2. Minimum two years of  higher education experience in student disability services, first-generation/TRIO programs, international student services or related field.
3. Knowledge of ADA/Section 504 and disability accommodation processes preferred.
4. Familiarity with SEVIS and international student regulations preferred.
5. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member, exercising discretion, empathy, and sound judgment with sensitive student information.
6. Knowledge of current computer software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.  Experience with Jenzabar EX or other data management system preferred.
7. Exceptional interpersonal skills and strong customer service acumen.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands of this position are typical of a primarily office-based role. The employee will regularly sit, stand, walk, and move throughout an office and campus environment; use a computer and other standard office equipment; and frequently perform tasks requiring hand and finger dexterity, such as typing, writing, filing, and handling documents. The position may occasionally require walking between campus buildings, attending meetings or events, and assisting students in various campus locations. The employee may occasionally lift or carry light office materials or supplies, generally up to approximately 10–20 pounds. The position does not typically require strenuous physical activity, heavy lifting, or prolonged periods of physical exertion.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The employee may be exposed to typical office and campus conditions, including moderate noise, interruptions, and varying indoor and outdoor temperatures when moving between facilities. The position is fully campus-based and requires regular on-site work; a remote or hybrid work schedule is not available for this position.
