Your Day‑to‑Day as a Peer Recovery Specialist In this role, you will provide peer‑based support and advocacy to individuals as they navigate recovery journeys. Responsibilities include: Assisting with daily living needs—physical, financial, social, and personal support—while encouraging stability and independence within the community. Monitoring mental wellness and connecting individuals to vital resources. Supporting overall well‑being through a person‑centered approach based on your lived experience. Building meaningful, trust‑based relationships that empower individuals. Maintaining organization, self‑direction, and a safe and supportive environment. What You Need To Be Successful Success in this role requires a combination of lived experience and practical skills: Personal experience with mental health and/or substance use challenges and at least 12 months of sustained recovery, demonstrating growth in managing your condition and maintaining stability. Completion of the DBHDS 72‑hour Peer Recovery Specialist Training within six months of hire. Strong interpersonal skills, rapport building, and effective use of community resources. Self‑motivation, ability to work independently, and dedication to continued personal and professional development.
