Essential Functions Utilize Transportation Management System (TMS) software to manage daily inbound and outbound shipments, maintain accurate ETA records, and update internal systems with estimated warehouse arrival dates. Monitor shipment activity and proactively communicate delivery delays, failed loads, OS&D (Over, Short, and Damaged) issues, scheduling conflicts, and other disruptions that may impact operations or costs. Source and secure competitive transportation rates through spot market bidding platforms and established carrier relationships. Negotiate freight rates and service agreements to support cost‑saving initiatives and operational efficiency. Serve as a key point of contact between Operations, Purchasing, Carriers, Vendors, and Branch locations regarding shipment status, delays, and issue resolution. Generate and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly transportation and performance reports. Prioritize workload based on operational needs, delivery requirements, and business impact. Identify and address root causes of delivery delays, including carrier performance issues, vendor scheduling challenges, loading/unloading inefficiencies, and communication gaps. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance transportation performance, service levels, and cost management.
