We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting activities for our Asian food distribution company. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank accounts, monitoring customer payments, and assisting with financial reporting.

Experience in wholesale distribution, inventory accounting, or a food-related business is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in accordance with company procedures and applicable accounting standards.
• Manage accounts payable, including supplier invoices, payment schedules, and vendor account reconciliations.
• Manage accounts receivable, including customer invoices, payment applications, collections follow-up, and outstanding balance reports.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit card transactions, and other financial accounts.
• Process and verify purchase invoices, sales invoices, credit memos, expense reports, and payment records.
• Monitor customer credit balances, overdue invoices, and payment discrepancies.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.
• Maintain accurate inventory-related financial records and assist with inventory reconciliations.
• Track operating expenses and assist with budget preparation and cost analysis.
• Prepare financial statements, management reports, and accounting summaries as required.
• Coordinate with management, suppliers, customers, and external accountants or tax professionals when necessary.
• Maintain organized accounting files and supporting documentation.
• Assist with payroll processing, sales tax filings, and other compliance-related tasks as assigned.
• Identify and resolve accounting discrepancies promptly.
• Maintain confidentiality of financial information and follow internal financial controls.

Qualifications

• Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred.
• Previous accounting or bookkeeping experience required; distribution or wholesale experience preferred.
• Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger accounting.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and accounting software.
• Strong numerical accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage deadlines and handle multiple accounting tasks.
• Knowledge of inventory accounting, cost of goods sold, and sales tax procedures is a plus.
• Experience with payroll, financial reporting, and month-end closing is preferred.
• English proficiency required; Chinese or other Asian language skills are a plus.
