Several major academic initiatives have been introduced that will transform the future of business education at W&M. These initiatives include: • Reduction in credit hour requirements for incoming students to the program • Significant increase in student capacity (from 240 to 432 per academic year) • Launch of a summer semester that includes many unique academic and professional experiences • Development of a highly-experiential “signature experience” that integrates professional development and personal wellness with broadened and deepened understanding of careers in business and with ideas around principled achievement and ethical decision making. All these initiatives have received strong support from business school faculty and the university overall. The Undergraduate Business Program is carefully considering introducing additional important strategic initiatives including: • Designing and launching an international exchange program and making other investments in international experiences for students • More fully investing in student-success services to increase retention and graduation rates for all students, including first-generation and Pell-eligible/low-income students • Introducing multiple BMAPs which requires close coordination with other W&M schools and academic programs across campus. In sum, each of these initiatives requires significant leadership time and effort to develop and effectively implement in Undergraduate Business Program. The Associate Dean of Undergraduate Business Programs represents a unique opportunity to lead these significant changes to the program and serve in a strategic leadership role with a vibrant top-tier business school at one of the nation's most historic "public ivy" universities. The Associate Dean is a vital member of the Dean's leadership team of the Raymond A. Mason School of Business (MSOB) at William & Mary and provides strategic direction and management of the MSOB residential full-time Undergraduate Business Programs, including discipline-specific majors and minors, as well as specialty minor's programs. The Associate Dean collaborates with cross functional groups including faculty, staff, volunteers, board members, alumni, campus partners, and other external groups to ensure the MSOB undergraduate program continually enhance the excellence of their academic, program and student experiences. The Associate Dean leads and implements rankings strategies, ensures data reporting validity, and maintains a high-profile presence at the top business school and industry annual conferences and on national committees.**Job Description:****Required Qualifications**: Please make sure your cover letter and resume clearly indicate how you meet the following **required** qualifications.* Master's degree or a combination of education, experience, and training.* Experience in a significant leadership position(s) preferably in an Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accredited business school or closely related school/college.* Successful record and experience leading, developing, and training professional staff.* Experience with the design and management of international exchange programs including development of relationships with universities across the world.**Preferred Qualifications:** Please make sure your cover letter and resume clearly indicate how you meet the following **preferred** qualifications.* Doctorate preferred.* Strong understanding of the design and implementation of BMAP programs at W&M.* Involvement and experience with alumni relations.* Project management and organizational abilities and experience.* Strong understanding of business school ranking.* Doctorate in Business or a Business-related field.* Active engagement with accrediting agencies and undergraduate school related organizations such as the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the National Undergraduate Business Symposium (NUBS), and the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA).* Considerable experience, and a successful record in leading the rankings strategy for a ranked business school.* Experience working closely with alumni and donors.* Possess a solid understanding of business school rankings**Conditions of Employment:*** This position may require additional hours beyond the typical 40 hour work week, to include occasional evening, night and weekend work, and/or overnight travel, as needed to meet the business needs of the operation.**For full consideration, please upload the items listed below before the review date. Remote work scheduling will be determined by the administration of the Mason School of Business.**This position is not eligible for work visa sponsorship.****Salary:** up to $190,000 commensurate with experience.**Job Duties: 35% - Undergraduate Business Programs Management:*** Leads in a constructive, respectful, other-centric manner that generates a positive culture and serves our students, faculty, and key stakeholders in an outstanding manner. Ensures a transformational experience is not just for our students.* Oversees academic calendar and course schedule development.* Oversees student transition events such as pre-major advising, new student orientation, and graduation.* Works closely with faculty director and department chairs to plan for instructional course offerings, scheduling, and staffing.* Design and management of international exchange programs including development of relationships with universities across the world.* Design and implementation of BMAP programs at W&M.* Works closely with the faculty program director and Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) Advisory Committee to ensure the academic aspects of the program are high quality, relevant and differentiated.* Meet regularly with instructional faculty to maintain a smooth delivery of classes and to identify any student or program concerns.* Partners with faculty to develop signature academic and community building events.* Manages key relationships with relevant counterparts within the business school and wider campus.* Keeps up to date regarding best practices and emerging trends in student affairs, business education, and higher education; integrate innovative approaches to enhance student success outcomes.**15% - Student Partnerships:*** Enhances the sense of belonging for all students to make the Mason School a place where every student feels “at home.” Demonstrates commitment to inclusive excellence.* Professionally and helpfully provides information, redirecting to other team members as needed.* Communicates regularly with students in all programs via one-on-one, small group and class-wide meetings throughout the year by delivering workshops, updates (in class and via video), and regularly scheduled student and student-leadership team meetings.* Develops and continuously improves communication strategies for W&M undergraduates, both directly and via our website/Blackboard Hub.* Communicates regularly with faculty regarding student issues, micro- and macro-trends, along with suggested strategies and tactics to address any issues.* Maintains a close relationship with students who lead Business School Clubs & Organizations.* Designs and lead strategies to support students with diverse needs.**15% - Program Evaluation:*** Develops a campus outreach program focused on freshmen and sophomores to promote interest in business majors and minors, and in the Masters of Accounting (MAcc) and Masters of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) programs (e.g., 2 degrees in four years).* Researches, implements, and continuously improves admissions best practices for highly competitive environments.* Develops communication, outreach, recruitment, and admissions plans and processes that set us apart from competitors.* Evaluates and adjusts strategic admissions policies and criteria; works collaboratively with the BBA Advisory Committee and the Faculty Program Director for review of applications and admissions decisions, ensuring a holistic review of all candidates that meet the minimum requirements for admission.* Develops strong relationships with undergraduate organizations and provides support as necessary to encourage those students to apply.* Works proactively to identify potential barriers within the student application and enrollment process and takes steps to resolve.* Continuously gathers data on competitors to evaluate our offers for competitiveness.**10% - Program Policies and Compliance:*** Ensures compliance with accreditation standards and regulations governing undergraduate business programs (SCHEV, AACSB).* Works closely with Vice Dean on policy and accreditation issues.* Evaluates, manages, and continuously improves the academic policies and student service activities for the Undergraduate Business Programs.* Works collaboratively with the faculty program director to seek input regarding academic services initiatives.* Meets weekly with Vice Dean to report on all progress, issues, opportunities in terms of academic services.* Resolves escalated student issues with academic progress, petitions, course schedule exceptions.* Oversees transfer credit course evaluation.* Oversees changes to the Undergraduate Catalog, in conjunction with the Vice Dean and Academic Administration.* Serves on Academic Status Committee.**10% - Financial Oversight:*** Collaborating with the dean’s advancement team, supports efforts to fund activities and scholarships for undergraduate business students. Create and implement policies for merit and need-based awards for distribution.* Develops budget goals for the Undergraduate Business Programs, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and priorities.* Ensures expenditures do not exceed budgets. Holds monthly check-ins with the team to review budgets and determine spending levels. Leads budget discussions/meetings and make final decisions on any late budget requests from faculty and others.**10% - Brand Management and Development:*** Leads activities supporting rankings related to the undergraduate programs by collecting and reporting accurate data, building, and maintaining relationships with rankings publications, and communicating with students, alumni and employers who complete rankings surveys.* Maintains an active presence in key national organizations with the goal of raising the MSOB profile, image, and brand. Attends annual conferences and identifies speaking or panel opportunities.* Builds and maintains relationships with colleagues at top programs across the country, as well as with colleagues at up-and-coming programs.* Supports the strategic direction of University Admissions, MSOB Advancement and Alumni Events as needed to cultivate and nourish engagement for undergraduate programming. Collaborates with the Dean’s advancement team to support efforts to fund program activities and scholarships.* Attends Mason School of Business Foundation, Accounting, Business Analytics, and Boehly Center Board meetings as needed. Prepares and presents program updates as requested.* Assist both University and Business school Undergraduate & Graduate Admissions and Alumni/Development at events and gatherings locally, regionally, and occasionally, nationally.**5% - Staff Development and Communication:*** Communicates clear expectations to staff about goals and objectives of the department.* Provides constructive feedback to the team, including interim evaluations. Addresses and documents performance issues as they occur.* Ensures staff have the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to accomplish goals.* Meets the requirements of the performance planning and evaluation system and completes evaluations by established deadlines with proper documentation.* Reviews and communicates safety issues to assure a safe and healthy workplace.* Other duties as assigned.
