Job Summary

The Accountant will report to the Controller of Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians and support day-to-day and monthly financial operations, including month-end close, journal entries, general ledger maintenance, financial reporting, and accounts payable vendor setup.

Responsibilities

Assist with preparation of accurate and timely monthly financial statements.
Support month-end close activities, including both accrual and cash accounting.
Prepare and upload standard monthly journal entries into the general ledger.
Prepare supporting documentation and workpapers for journal entries.
Ensure journal-entry accuracy to support departmental and physician-level profit-and-loss statements.
Maintain the HMFP and APHMFP chart of accounts.
Set up new account codes and general-ledger account strings.
Set up new accounts payable vendors according to established policies and procedures.
Respond to departmental questions regarding financial transactions and financial-statement accuracy.
Perform financial analysis and maintain related databases and documentation.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.
1–3 years of related accounting experience.
Strong general accounting and financial reporting experience.
Experience with journal entries, general ledger activity, and month-end close.
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel , along with Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
Ability to prepare complex documents, perform financial analysis, and maintain databases.
Any former BILH employee must have been separated from BILH for at least 6 months and must have left in good standing.
