Veterinary Assistant - Primary Care

Veterinary Assistant Location: Pieper Veterinary Berlin Street, Middletown, CT. We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Veterinary Assistant to join our team. This role supports animal handling and restraint, basic surgical preparation, and assisting Veterinary Technicians in a clinical setting. Experience with surgical pack and prep is preferred, and familiarity with EzyVet and SmartFlow is a plus but not required. Prepare and assist with basic surgical setups and patient care. Assist Veterinary Technicians with client and interpersonal communication. Maintain cleanliness and organization in clinical areas. Collaborate with veterinarians, technicians, and other staff members. Adapt to new tasks and procedures as the workflow evolves. Schedule Full‑time: 4 days a week, 10‑hour shifts (8 am–6 pm). Experience in handling animals and performing basic animal care tasks. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with clients and team members. Ability to multi‑task and remain organized in a fast‑paced environment. Compassion and patience when handling animals. Basic knowledge of animal behavior and medical terminology. Ability to work well under pressure and in stressful situations. Ability to work collaboratively with veterinarians, technicians, and other staff members. Willingness to take direction and adapt to new tasks and procedures. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
