Personal Cook – Private Family

Location: Hoffman Estates, IL
Job Type: Part-Time
Pay: $22.00–$25.00 per hour
Schedule: Monday–Saturday, 7:00 AM–11:00 AM
Hours: Approximately 24 hours per week

Job Summary

A private family in Hoffman Estates, IL is seeking a dependable and experienced Personal Cook to prepare fresh, healthy, home-style meals.

We are looking for someone who enjoys cooking, understands healthy meal preparation, and can learn the family's food preferences and routines. The cook will also assist with meal planning, grocery shopping, kitchen organization, and maintaining a clean cooking environment.

The family enjoys a variety of foods, including Indian vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes . Prior experience preparing Indian cuisine is welcome but not required ; however, candidates must be comfortable learning and following recipes.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking a consistent morning schedule and stable, long-term part-time position in a private-home environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare fresh meals based on the family's preferences and dietary needs.
• Prepare meals appropriate for low-sugar, diabetic-friendly, keto-friendly, low-carb, and weight-management diets .
• Learn and prepare Indian vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.
• Assist with weekly meal planning.
• Create and maintain grocery and ingredient lists.
• Shop for groceries and ingredients as needed.
• Monitor kitchen inventory and ensure commonly used items remain stocked.
• Properly store food and ingredients and follow appropriate food-safety practices.
• Package, label, refrigerate, or store prepared meals appropriately.
• Prepare food for occasional small dinner parties, family gatherings, or special occasions.
• Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen .
• Clean cookware, utensils, countertops, and cooking areas after food preparation.
• Minimize unnecessary food waste through thoughtful meal planning and inventory management.
• Complete occasional grocery or food-related errands.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of cooking experience preferred , including professional, private-home, catering, restaurant, meal-prep, or similar experience.
• Experience preparing healthy meals and accommodating dietary preferences.
• Comfortable learning Indian vegetarian and non-vegetarian recipes.
• Knowledge of proper food handling, storage, sanitation, and kitchen safety.
• Dependable, punctual, organized, and detail-oriented.
• Comfortable grocery shopping and managing basic kitchen inventory.
• Comfortable working independently in a private-home environment.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to reliably arrive by 7:00 AM Monday through Saturday .

Schedule

Monday–Saturday
7:00 AM–11:00 AM

Approximately 24 hours per week .

Candidates must be able to consistently work the scheduled morning hours.

Compensation

$22.00–$25.00 per hour , based on experience.

Location & Commute

This position is located in Hoffman Estates, IL .

Candidates should preferably live within approximately 25 miles of Hoffman Estates or otherwise be able to reliably commute for the 7:00 AM start time .
