Position Details

• Role: Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
• Setting: Inpatient behavioral health hospital.
• Availability: Full-time or part-time positions are open.
• Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough medical assessments, including initial history and physicals (H&Ps) within 24 hours of patient admission, along with follow-ups and discharge planning.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and support staff to develop integrated treatment plans that address both medical and mental health needs.
  • Co-manage patients with intricate medical comorbidities in conjunction with mental health providers.
  • Educate patients and their families about medical conditions, medications, and lifestyle changes to improve overall health.
  • Provide medical consultations and suggest diagnostic tests and treatments as necessary.
  • Deliver emergency care within your licensure scope until specialized assistance is available.

Requirements

• Licensure: Must possess an active Alaska Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Physician Assistant license, or the ability to obtain one before starting.
• Education: Completion of an accredited Family Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
• Certification: Board certification from AANPCB, ANCC, or NCCPA is required.
• Experience: Previous clinical experience in an inpatient or acute care environment is preferred; experience in behavioral health is a plus. New graduates with relevant clinical training and a strong interest in behavioral health will also be considered.
