Additional details about the position:
- Will see more than just ortho cases
- OR setup: Review surgeon preference cards, check case carts, and gather necessary equipment and supplies.
- Sterilization: Ensure all instruments are sterile and functional.
- Sterile field: Perform the surgical scrub, don gown and gloves, and arrange instruments on the Mayo stand and back table.
- Counts: Perform initial counts of sponges, sharps, and instruments with the circulator.
- Patient prep: Assist in transferring, positioning, and prepping (cleaning/disinfecting) the patient.
- Draping: Assist the team in draping the patient to establish a sterile field.
- Intraoperative procedures
- Anticipation: Anticipate the surgeon's needs, passing instruments quickly and efficiently.
- Maintaining sterility: Monitor the sterile field constantly to prevent contamination.
- Specimens: Receive, handle, and label surgical specimens.
- Medications: Prepare and pass medications, hemostatic agents, and irrigation solutions.
Experience requirements:
- Need ortho experience
- Experience working knees & shoulders cases
- 2 years relevant experience
Certification requirements:
- CST
