Environmental Technician

Position Summary The Environmental Technician is responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of landfill gas extraction systems, leachate collection systems, and other related systems at Republic Services' landfills. The employee monitors these systems continuously, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, federal and state requirements. Principal Responsibilities Conducts or assists with environmental sampling, including groundwater, surface water, air quality, and gas migration assessments. Measures and records gas levels in landfill well fields and at probes in the landfill boundary to maintain ongoing compliance with applicable safety regulations and federal and state requirements. Troubleshoots and corrects landfill gas extraction systems; escalates complex issues to management for timely resolution. Manages and troubleshoots leachate systems to maintain compliance with safety standards and regulations. Performs landfill surveying activities as required. Prepares and submits reporting data related to landfill gas extraction, leachate, and other systems. Performs all duties safely and efficiently, adhering to safety regulations and applicable federal and state requirements. Performs other job‑related duties as required. Minimum Requirements Minimum of 1 year of experience working at a site regulated by OSHA. Compensation Pay range: $22.40 to $30.80 per hour (dependent on locality).
