Ultrasound Tech

Status: Full Time Pay Grade: $45-65/hr Classification: Non-Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY

A Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (Ultrasound Tech) provides diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound and related diagnostic procedures. The Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating results of sonograph diagnostic examinations. The US Tech has no supervisory responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION: Obtain the proper registry credentials. Once trained, be current and in good standing with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Must be able to maintain continuing educational credits each year or as specified by the ARDMS. EXPERIENCE: Minimum, one (1) year employment in a hospital setting. Able to produce quality work scanning standards as set forth by the State of Alaska and appropriate groups certifying this medical center. REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to write, speak, and understand the English language; possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action; possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, patients, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public. Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as be willing to handle patients of every maturity level. Ability to implement and interpret the policies and procedures of the radiology department. Must be able to lift patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
