Police Officer
Police Officers preserve public peace; protect life and property; work within the community to prevent crime and enforce the ordinances of the City of Brookfield and the laws of the State of Wisconsin.
Essential functions include safely carrying, maintaining, and operating issued firearms and other police equipment; enforcing the ordinances of the City of Brookfield and the laws of the State of Wisconsin; responding to calls for service; conducting investigations of suspicious persons or situations and preliminary investigation of major crimes and criminal activity; preparing investigative reports; identifying, detaining, and processing wanted individuals; interviewing suspects and witnesses; preparing for and testifying in court as to the facts surrounding any criminal, departmental or civil action; patrolling the City of Brookfield in a police vehicle and/or on foot as directed; preparing accurate and complete reports of daily activities; providing assistance to the community in the areas of crime prevention; enforcing motor vehicle laws to promote safety and to reduce accidents and expedite traffic flow; and attending in-service training as mandated by the State of Wisconsin or as directed.

Minimum requirements include age 18 at time of application, United States citizenship, valid Wisconsin driver's license, an associate degree from a Wisconsin technical college system district or its accredited equivalent from another state, or a minimum of 60 college level credits from an accredited college or university, and physical readiness standards including a 1.5 mile run, push ups, vertical jump, 300m run, sit ups, and agility run.
The salary range is $37.82-$49.76 with annual increases based upon successful job performance. The City offers a generous benefit package, as negotiated with the Brookfield Professional Police Association.
