Apply Here: About the Bard Early Colleges (BECs) Through a tuition‑free, credit‑bearing college program in the liberal arts and sciences with robust supports, Bard High School Early College (BHSEC) schools help high‑school age students—particularly those at risk of not completing postsecondary education—access, afford, and complete college prepared to contribute to the workforce and civic life. At BHSEC Newark, students have the opportunity to earn up to 60 college credits and an associate in arts (A.A.) degree from Bard College concurrently with a high‑school diploma from the Newark Board of Education (NBOE). Position Description Bard High School Early College (BHSEC) Newark invites applications for a full‑time faculty position in Global History beginning August 2026. The applicant will teach high‑school global history and college courses. The applicant must demonstrate the ability to teach World History survey courses, with expertise in major global historical processes such as the Atlantic World, the Age of Revolutions, Slavery and the slave trade, Industrialization, Empire and capitalism, Globalization, and Post‑colonial independence movements. Expertise in African, Middle Eastern, East Asian, or other regional histories is desirable for elective offerings. Candidates from social science fields such as political science, geography, sociology, and anthropology will also be considered, but all candidates must be able to teach world history. The successful applicant will be committed to teaching classes at both the high‑school and college levels. The candidate will also be expected to participate fully in the life of the school, including student advising, club advising, and committee service. Ph.D. and college teaching experience are required. High‑school teaching experience and/or experience working with youth is desirable. Work authorization in the United States is required for all BHSEC Newark faculty positions. Sponsorship is not available for this position. Compensation: This is an NBOE position. The salary range is $70,000 to $114,750. Strong commitment to equity, social justice, and open‑ended learning environments for underrepresented students. Experience with student advising, club advising, and committee service. Ph.D.; high‑school teaching experience and/or experience working with youth is desirable.
