Maintenance Department Supervisor

This position is responsible for the direction of the Maintenance Department operations for all shifts. This position must also exhibit a high level of professional and personalized guest service that embodies the Company's brand standard and core values (K.E.E.P. Responsibilities include daily supervision of assigned shift personnel, including recommendations for hiring and terminations, maintenance of shift performance appraisal documentation, reprimands, recommendations for discipline and wage adjustments, etc., ensuring company policy and procedures are followed. The role also involves building mechanical plant operations during shifts, ensuring that equipment operating procedures are correctly followed, and taking any actions necessary to maintain operating plant, equipment, or personnel safety during assigned shifts.

General building structure and equipment operation, maintenance, and repair are also responsibilities, including air conditioning units, refrigeration units, plumbing, electrical systems, kitchen equipment, furnishings, fixtures, elevators, and fire protection systems. The role ensures that building environmental and comfort standards are maintained and conducts continuing training programs for shift personnel concerning equipment operation, maintenance, and repair.

The Maintenance Department Supervisor is also responsible for responding to building emergencies as per established procedures, ensuring knowledge of safety and emergency procedures, and following established procedures in reporting potential hazard areas. The role is responsible for Maintenance Department in the absence of the Facilities Manager/Director of Facilities, ensuring that building operating status, shift emergencies, and any other pertinent engineering operating information is properly transmitted to the Lead Technicians and if appropriate, to other Engineering personnel.

Supervisory responsibilities include maintaining a clean and safe work environment at all times and driving a safe culture within the team.

Qualifications to perform this job successfully include the ability to operate in a working environment that is subject to varying levels of cold, heat, noise, crowds, smoke, and vibration. Incumbents are at times subjected to hazards associated with the use of basic hand and power tools and testing equipment. This position occasionally works outside and is subject to all weather conditions. Proper clothing is provided.

The role requires observing and directing actions of subordinates, inspecting and maintaining areas for which responsible, reviewing and comprehending all necessary documentation, and completing knowledge of electrical distribution, HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems, boilers, chillers, and emergency generator systems. Knowledge of general repairs and safety procedures is also required. The minimum age requirement is 21.

Education and/or experience include a minimum of three years' experience in Engineering operations (preferably in the Hotel/Resort Industry) and/or through a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or closely related field and one year experience in a supervisory capacity. Basic math skills, the ability to speak and understand English, and physical demands such as moving throughout the hotel for extended periods of time, lifting objects up to 50 pounds, and walking/standing on various surfaces are also required.

The work environment is indoors in a climate-controlled environment with occasional hot and cold temperature changes. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to a smoke-filled environment, work with others in close spaces, and moderate to high noise levels.
