Location Detail: MMH-71 Haynes Street (10627) Shift Detail: Biweekly rotating schedule – Every other weekend – Every other holiday – Shift alternates 7am‑3:30pm / 6am‑2:30pm. More details upon interview. Work where every moment matters. The Greater Manchester Region has approximately 2,500 employees and serves about 300,000 people in 19 towns. It includes Manchester Memorial Hospital, a 249‑bed community hospital, Rockville General (a campus of Manchester Memorial Hospital), a 102‑bed facility, a large multispecialty provider group, and visiting nurse services. Position Summary The Patient Access Associate is responsible for entering the patient into the system and determining the urgency for medical triage as well as validating and verifying the accuracy of medical record selection. The role works closely with clinical staff to ensure quality patient care and safety, completing emergency room, outpatient and inpatient registrations to obtain accurate demographic and financial data for proper reimbursement, and ensuring compliant signatures for documentation. Decision making is required for correct account management, supporting policies for financial assistance to uninsured patients, completing attestations with patients, and collecting time‑of‑service dollars. Qualifications Education: A high school diploma or GED equivalent. Experience: Basic use of personal computers and keyboards; some basic skills in Microsoft Word and Outlook are desirable but not required. Knowledge of medical insurance is helpful. Registration experience preferred. Competencies: Exemplary customer service and English communication skills; ability to multitask; strong decision‑making skills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Job‑specific competency: The following responsibilities may change over time. Accurately establishes patient accounts in a timely fashion, eliminating duplication of medical record numbers by linking the correct patient and unit number. Completes demographic and financial information accurately while determining the appropriate flow type in the admissions registration system. Obtains signatures on authorization forms for all types of registrations and explains all components of the form. Demonstrates working knowledge of systems outside of ADT required to complete tasks. Directs patients and visitors to appropriate locations within the hospital. Completes registration processes, producing registration forms, admission plates, and bracelets based on registration type. Assigns the correct physician(s), admit source, admit priority, and HIPAA‑specific information as evaluated through the auditing process. Operates department‑specific equipment such as fax, copier, printer, and credit/debit machine. Pre‑registers patients for scheduled appointments, responding to pre‑registration calls promptly, returning messages in a timely fashion, printing scheduled lists, and initiating follow‑up calls as evidenced by weekly audits. Accurately performs the discharge function by entering accurate diagnosis, disposition, referring physician, discharge time, and time metrics for triage, room placement, and physician encounter. Reconciles charges for ED professional and facility components provided by the coding vendor and closes out the month without delay. Reports discrepancies or issues immediately to the Manager of Patient Access and collaborates with Vendor, HIM, ED/PC physicians, and nursing to resolve. #J-18808-Ljbffr Hartford HealthCare
