Job Description
Fellowship Opportunity in Advanced Head & Neck Oncologic Surgery and Microvascular Reconstruction
Our organization is excited to announce an opening for a fellowship in Advanced Head & Neck Oncologic Surgery and Microvascular Reconstruction. This one-year surgical program offers extensive hands-on experience, with the possibility of extending to two years based on the fellow's career goals and research interests. Participation in mission electives is highly encouraged.
Program OverviewCurrently, our team includes eight full-time fellowship-trained Head & Neck surgical oncologists, five of whom specialize in microvascular reconstruction. Additionally, two oncologic surgeons are based at our affiliated VA facility. The fellowship experience is further enriched by collaboration with two endoscopic skull base surgeons, three facial plastic/reconstructive surgeons, and three laryngologists.
The fellow will engage in a variety of advanced surgical cases, including:
- Major head and neck ablative surgeries
- Microvascular reconstructions
- TOLMS/TORS procedures
- Endoscopic skull base surgeries
- Open and craniofacial surgeries
- Advanced trauma interventions
- Complex skin cancer reconstructions
A balanced experience in both ablative and reconstructive surgery is essential, with the fellow's preferences influencing the specific case mix. The fellowship also encompasses thyroid and parathyroid surgeries, including minimally invasive approaches, re-operative procedures, and surgeries for non-localizing diseases.
Fellow ResponsibilitiesThe fellow will collaborate closely with faculty at our institution, selecting cases with minimal oversight to foster a fellow-directed and well-rounded experience. Intraoperative teaching of residents and limited research involvement are expected. Opportunities to assist at the VA or county hospital for specific cases may also be available.
Working ConditionsThis is a surgical fellowship with no call or clinic responsibilities, allowing a concentrated focus on operative experience. A valid California Medical License is a prerequisite for this position.

This family-oriented community boasts a strong commitment to health and wellness. Nestled at the base of the San Bernardino mountains, residents enjoy easy access to beaches, skiing, hiking, and a variety of outdoor activities. The region offers a low cost of living and excellent educational opportunities in both private and public schools. Faculty members may also qualify for federal student loan forgiveness programs.
Compensation and BenefitsThe starting base salary for this position ranges from $90,000 to $104,000, adjusted according to years of experience and faculty rank. This figure does not include variable compensation or additional productivity bonuses and is subject to departmental compensation policies. Further details regarding compensation will be discussed during the recruitment process.

- Comprehensive medical and dental coverage
- Competitive vacation and sick leave

- Relocation assistance (if applicable)
- Paid malpractice insurance
- Paid life insurance
