About the Center The Center for Health Equity & Community Wellness (CHECW) works to eliminate racial and other inequities causing premature mortality in New York City. The Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention (BCDP) focuses on reducing the burden of chronic disease through evidence‑based policies, programs, and research. Position Overview The BCDP seeks a Chronic Disease Data Analyst to support research and program evaluation activities aimed at reducing chronic disease burden in New York City. Responsibilities Provide analytic support to Bureau units, responding to data requests in a timely manner and assisting in the design of research and evaluation activities. Work with Research & Evaluation staff to conduct surveillance, manage data, and analyze results, preparing summary tables, figures, and maps related to chronic disease. Systematically document analytic processes (e.g., codebooks, SAS programs). Summarize peer‑reviewed literature on chronic disease prevention as needed. Draft reports and presentations for internal and external audiences; lead or assist in drafting and submitting peer‑reviewed articles. Provide data and interpretation for other Bureau‑created external documents and presentations. Preferred Skills Experience in quantitative analytical methods; some familiarity with qualitative methods. Proficiency in statistical software (SAS, SQL, or other). Experience with data visualization and effective communication (verbal and written). Ability to manage quantitative datasets. Comfort managing multiple tasks and tracking progress to meet timelines. High levels of organization, attention to detail, and solution focus. Familiarity with peer‑reviewed literature on chronic disease prevention, health equity, and strategies to eliminate racial disparities in health outcomes.
