Human Resources Specialist

JOB SUMMARY:

This position performs a variety of both complex and routine administrative services and works closely with senior human resources management and other staff members of the human resource department.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of principles and practices of all aspects of human resources management.
• Knowledge of federal, state, local laws, rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Must be able to always maintain sensitive and confidential information of human resources administration work.
• Skills to include:

• Problem Solving - identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes

information accurately and skillfully.

• Planning and organizing - prioritizes and plans work activities, uses time efficiently and develops

realistic action plans to meet all required deadlines.

• Quality Control - demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality.
• Adaptability - adapts to changes in the work environment, manages competing demands, and is able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events.
• Dependability - consistently at work and on time, follows instructions, responds to management direction, and solicits feedback to improve performance.

• Communications - strong verbal and written communication skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Associates Degree required in human resources, business management or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Minimum of four (4) years' experience in an administrative/clerical position.
• One (1) year of human resources, payroll, or benefits experience.
• Public sector or local government HR experience preferred.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license in the state of residency.
• Must obtain National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) 100 and 700 within three (3) months of employment.
