Engineering Technician

Location: Denver, CO Type: Contract To Hire Compensation: Competitive hourly pay based on experience Work Model: Onsite – onsite Hours: 40.0 Security Clearance: Required

Responsibilities:

• Perform field testing and inspection of soils, aggregate, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials.
• Observe and document earthwork operations, foundation excavations, utility trench backfill, and structural fill placement.
• Conduct density testing, moisture testing, proof rolling, and compaction testing.
• Collect soil, aggregate, and concrete samples for laboratory testing.
• Prepare accurate field reports and maintain daily documentation.
• Communicate test results and field observations to project managers and engineers.
• Ensure testing equipment is properly maintained and calibrated.
• Follow company safety procedures and OSHA regulations while working on active construction sites.
• Coordinate with contractors and project teams to support quality assurance and project compliance.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or a related field preferred.
• Previous experience in geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing, or construction inspection is preferred but not required.
• Familiarity with ASTM and AASHTO testing procedures is a plus.
• Ability to read construction plans and specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent written communication skills.
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Certifications:

• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
• NICET Certification
• WAQTC or equivalent field testing certifications
• Nuclear Density Gauge Safety Certification (preferred)
