We engage them and the local community at a number of educational facilities, including the Ledyard Canoe Club, the Moosilauke Ravine Lodge, the Second College Grant, and cabins available for rent throughout the state. In addition. OPO advises the Dartmouth Outing Club, the largest and oldest college outing club in the country. In partnership with our student leaders, we offer trips, outdoor education seminars, workshops, and courses. The Outdoor Programs Office is a part of Community and Campus Life at Dartmouth. Moosilauke hospitality is a tradition dating back to 1920. Over the years, Dartmouth folks have turned to the mountain for educational programs, reunions, and to enjoy the woods. The Ravine Lodge is the heart of this common ground for students, faculty, alumni, friends of Dartmouth, and the greater public. The crew serves family-style meals and tends to five rustic, hostel-style bunkhouses. Working at the Lodge means being part of the stewardship of a place so central to the Dartmouth community. The Moosilauke Ravine Lodge Assistant Manager assists the manager in leading the operations of the Lodge and crew. They also share the responsibilities of the crew which involves a variety of work, including menu planning, cooking, taking reservations, handling payment, helping with event planning, setting up the dining room, cleaning, gardening, splitting wood, and other projects. All crew members will be trained in these roles! Room and board included. We are hiring for three seasonal assistant managers (spring, summer, and fall). Approximate dates: Spring crew: April 15 - June 22, 2026 Summer crew: June 10 - August 31, 2026 Fall crew: September 12 - November 22, 2026 Please submit an application by January 4, 2026 to be considered in the first review. Required Qualifications High School and some college or equivalent Must be able to obtain certification or the equivalent, we can help you schedule and pay for these trainings: Wilderness First Aid CPR/AED ServSafe Manager Must be able to withstand long days of work. Some days may involve upwards of 12 hours of work - much of which requires standing Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work within a team environment Strong organizational skills and the ability to plan and manage programs and projects Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Commitment to diversity and to serving the needs of a diverse population Preferred Qualifications Ability to become and maintain approved driver status under the Dartmouth College Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Policy. Live at the Lodge during scheduled work week. Crew members are housed together in a single dorm-style bunkhouse with shared full bathroom facilities (electricity heat). Previous experience working at the Lodge is not required but is strongly preferred. Additional Instructions Quick Link Key Accountabilities Key Accountabilities Assist with Lodge Crew management, 45% Make decisions, improvise, and consider what's best for the whole team while balancing the needs of individuals and OPO, College, and other relevant policies Facilitate onboarding and training processes for the staff Create weekly and daily work schedule. Anticipate staffing needs and arrange for additional help Supervise and provide support and instruction to crew members Assist and delegate to crew various indoor and outdoor projects to maintain the buildings and grounds which could include: regular deep cleaning of industrial kitchen, dining room, bathroom facilities, and bunkrooms mowing the lawn chopping kindling opening and closing the Lodge for the year other projects Give feedback on staff performance. Help run weekly staff meetings and give mid-season performance reviews Rotate through the job schedule to fulfill the following roles: cook, sous-chef, dish washer, day desk, dinner host, server, and other projects Support Lodge operations, 45% Safely and efficiently plan, prepare, serve, and clean-up meals for 1-110 people. (We will train you!) Coordinate reservations and assist guests consistent with OPO priorities Handle guest financial transactions Host brief activities, talks, or other programming for dinner guests Promote positive relations with trail and research crews Be a good fiscal steward of MRL funds Arrange for the distribution of tips to crew (which includes Assistant Manager(s)) Work independently and with contractors to steward campus grounds and facilities Track supply inventory and coordinate resupply processes Complete periodical safety checks and tests on various systems including propane, fire alarms, cleaning solutions, and more Coordinate reservations and programming to draw guests to the Lodge consistent with OPO priorities Support the safety and wellbeing of guests and crew, 10% Serve as primary point of contact for guest concerns Cooperate with NH Fish and Game to facilitate search and rescue missions for lost or missing hikers on Mt. Moosilauke and in the immediate area Provide basic first aid Drive college vans with student guests to and from campus Represent Dartmouth College, the Outdoor Programs Office, and the Lodge in all interactions with people who come through the Lodge Ensure that Lodge complies with OPO, College, local, state and other regulations concerning employment, food safety, etc. Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.
