Assistant General Manager

Position Summary The Assistant General Manager is responsible for training and hiring Hotel Departmental Staff, including Guest Service, Housekeeping, Spa, and Maintenance. They ensure outstanding guest service and associate satisfaction, manage all aspects of the hotel in the General Manager’s absence, and report and communicate regularly with the General Manager. Direct Responsibilities Front office operations including concierge, bell & door mand services, and hotel-wide administrative assistance. Spa operations encompassing therapists and reception staff. Rooms division operations covering Housekeeping and Maintenance. Additional Duties and Responsibilities Interview and hire Guest Service Representatives, Spa Therapists, Spa Receptionists, Housekeeping and Maintenance positions. Provide training and mentoring of GSRs and Receptionists. Maintain service standards of Averill Hospitality & AAA four‑diamond levels. Resolve guest complaints and execute service recovery processes. Control and approve Hotel Departmental labor and payroll. Conduct employee performance reviews and implement personnel action plans, including disciplinary actions and termination as required. Maintain accurate records including guest charges, AR ageing reports, direct billing, night audit balancing, reservation audits, discount logs, and association training logs. Hold monthly team meetings and mandatory training sessions. Adhere to all franchise and company procedures, regulations, SOPs, and service standards. Ensure full compliance with AH and departmental operating controls, SOPs, procedures, and service standards. Guarantee all departmental shifts are covered according to labor guidelines. Order all required hotel office supplies, front desk operating supplies, spa, housekeeping, and maintenance supplies with proactive stock management. Ensure hotel staff receive uniforms and name tags, upholding property grooming standards. Be available to respond to any guest or employee emergencies. Perform any other duties assigned by the General Manager.
