What you'll do Collect blood specimensand perform point-of-care testing byfollowing established laboratoryprocedures, ensuring accuratepatient identificationand proper specimencollection, labeling, handling, and transport. Prioritize and collectcritical and STATspecimens promptly tosupport timely diagnosisand treatment forpatients throughout thehospital. Maintain a safeenvironment by followinginfection prevention protocols, utilizing personal protectiveequipment (PPE), andadhering to laboratoryand organizationalsafety standards. Serve as alaboratory dispatcher asassigned by managingmultiple incoming calls, accurately documentingandrelaying information, andcommunicating professionallywith laboratory staff, nursing teams, providers, and other departments. Collaborate with laboratoryand interdisciplinary careteams during routinepatient care aswell as emergencysituations, including codesand traumas, tosupport efficient, coordinatedpatientcare. Organize and prioritizedaily workload tomaintain efficiency, accuracy, and excellent servicewhile ensuring departmentcalls are answeredpromptly and professionally. Participate inquality assurance activitiesand continuous improvementinitiatives to maintaindepartmental performancestandards and enhancethe patient experience. Support the developmentof students andnew team membersthrough knowledge sharingand training opportunitiesas appropriate. Required qualifications High school diplomaor equivalent. Completion of anaccredited phlebotomy programorsufficient phlebotomy experiencethat qualifies thecandidate to sitfor a nationallyrecognized phlebotomy certificationexamination. Certified Phlebotomy Technician(PBT) certification requiredwithin six months of hire. Certification through ASCP, NHA, NHCO, oranother leader-approvednationally recognized certifyingagency with aproctored examination. One year phlebotomy experience OR successful completion of an accredited phlebotomy program.
