Safety & Health Manager - Distributed Energy - OK Location: OK, US Company: Black & Veatch Family of Companies Job Summary This is a mid-level project position, accountable for implementing and maintaining the Company’s Safety and Health Procedures on a moderately complex project. Performs medium to high complexity tasks and may supervise other safety and health professionals. Key Responsibilities Implement, administer and maintain project Drug and Alcohol Substance Abuse Program; conduct employee safety and health training; conduct detailed site safety and health inspections; manage project security contracts, programs and policies; maintain records; conduct incident and injury/illness investigations; write detailed reports; manage construction contractor safety and health program administration; administer project worker’s compensation programs; act as site first aid/medical provider; supervise and develop direct reports; support continuous improvement. Supervise Safety & Health interns and specialists. Minimum Qualifications 5+ years of safety and health experience. All applicants must complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements, including background checks, drug screens, and motor vehicle record searches, in compliance with applicable laws. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (preferred). Safety and health certification; Bachelor's degree (preferred). 3+ years experience in a construction environment. Knowledge of safety and health standards; company substance abuse policies; worker’s compensation policies; construction contracting strategies; safety and health consultation; first aid/medical functions; communication; computer software; report writing; human relations; conflict management; client and government interface. Certifications First Aid, CPR, Drug testing certified, OSHA 500/501, Safety and Health Program Administration, OSHA 10 hour. Work Environment / Physical Demands Physical Demands: Lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds. Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, and walk long distances in confined, cluttered, or uneven areas. See and hear naturally or with correction. Full range of motion and flexibility. Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls. Perform repetitive movements. Work above 5 feet in height. Climb and maintain balance on steel frameworks, stairs, ladders, scaffolds. Work up to a 12‑hour shift under variable temperatures and outdoor conditions. Work Environment: Typical construction site environment; cramped spaces; awkward positions. Hot (above 90°F) or cold (below 32°F) temperatures; exposure to dust, wind, snow, rain. Bright or low lighting conditions. Noise distraction or discomfort. Hazardous equipment. Typical office environment. Position is safety‑sensitive.
