Job Description
The Marine Joiner plays a crucial role in constructing, assembling, and maintaining wood and metal components on various vessels including commercial ships, small boats, and navy ships. This position involves working across a combination of shipyard, onboard vessel, and workshop environments, utilizing skill in woodworking, metalworking, and finishing techniques. The role demands a moderate level of independent work with strong adherence to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Perform woodworking, metalworking, and finishing on vessel components
- Assemble and install wood and composite structures according to blueprints
- Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints accurately
- Handle materials safely and efficiently in varied environments
- Maintain tools and equipment for operational reliability
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and best practices
- Conduct routine maintenance and repairs on marine joinery elements
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in marine joinery
- Strong carpentry and joinery techniques
- Proficient in blueprint interpretation
- Experienced with hand and power tools
- Knowledge of material selection for marine environments
- High attention to detail and quality finishes
- Familiarity with safety practices and regulations
- Effective team collaboration and problem-solving skills
