Responsibilities The X‑Ray Technologist prepares patients for x‑ray, including positioning the patient correctly, operate x‑ray equipment. Individuals in this role are responsible for making patients feel comfortable during the procedure and protecting staff and patient from radiation exposure. Roles and Responsibilities Prepare patients for radiological procedures, communicate the process to the patient and take x‑rays following established procedures for patient care and safety. Use and maintain a variety of radiation protection and shielding materials. Evaluate and ensure equipment is in working order, reporting all malfunctions or concerns to supervisor in a timely manner. Process and enter radiological procedure information into electronic health record as soon as completed and provide additional reports and information as needed. Evaluate and maintain examination rooms to ensure rooms are clean and stocked, including ensuring necessary medical and radiological supplies are filled; sterilize and clean room and equipment as required by standard procedures. Places a high priority on and maintains strict confidentiality in all situations. Participates in professional development activities and maintains applicable professional affiliations and certifications as required. Attends and participates in required organizational meetings and committees as requested. Perform additional related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education, Experience and Certification/License Requirements Completion of course in Radiological Technology approved by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists.
