We are searching for the best talent for Early Stage Innovation R&D Co-Op to be in Raritan, NJ.

The Co-op term is from January to July, 2027. Full time requirement (40 hours per week).

Wound Closure & Healing (WC&H) is a part of the Johnson & Johnson MedTech Surgery organization.

The MedTech Organization, based in Raritan, New Jersey, was founded more than 80 years ago as a pioneer in suture development and manufacturing, helping to transform the safety and effectiveness of open surgery. The MedTech Organization offers a broad range of products, platforms and technologies including sutures, hemostasis products, surgical staplers, trocars, energy devices and synthetic mesh devicesthat are used in a wide variety of minimally-invasive and open surgical procedures. Specialties include support for treatment of colorectal and thoracic conditions, women's health conditions, hernias, oncology, and obesity.

You will be responsible:

• Hands-on laboratory work in an engineering lab.
• Crafting and evaluating prototypes.
• Performing studies and developing test methods and fixtures.
• Attending and participating in voice-of-customer (VOC) labs.
• Collaborating with engineers and outside suppliers to support project related activities.
• Good documentation practices, including writing test protocols, generating final reports, and documenting meeting minutes.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required.
• Be enrolled (not necessarily taking classes) in an accredited college/university during the Co-op session.
• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or masters degree in Mechanical, Robotics, Electrical, Chemical, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.
• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher, which is reflective of all college coursework.
• You must not have any Summer Internship contract or other employment commitment that could interfere with the contract dates specified for this position.
• Proficiency using SolidWorks computer-aided design (CAD) to create 3D models is required.
• Experience with robotic system development is a plus.
• Ability to write, debug, and maintain code at a fundamental level is a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership and/or participation in campus programs and/or community service activities is desired.
• A high level of organization and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Be comfortable working independently, as well as on a team.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Power Point, and have strong oral and written communication skills is required.

Permanently authorized to work in the U.S., must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

The expected pay range for this position is between $23.50 per hour and $52.50 per hour but will be based on candidate's program year, discipline, degree and/or experience. Co-Ops/Interns are eligible to participate in Company sponsored employee medical benefits in accordance with the terms of the plan. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible for the following sick time benefits: up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington, up to 56 hours per calendar year. Co-Ops and Interns are eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension).
