Safety ManagerVolumod (Vol-U-mod) is a multi-family modular construction company located on the Far East Side of Indianapolis, Indiana. Volumod's team of more than 100 skilled professionals builds apartment buildings and other multi-family housing in sections - called modules - within a heated-and-cooled facility. On the factory floor, each home moves through 20 different stations, including framing, electrical, plumbing, flooring, drywall, siding, roofing, and interior finish, with kitchens and bathrooms installed, to produce a home that is 90% complete! The modules are then transported by semi truck, and lifted with a crane to form multifamily communities. Will you join us?Position SummaryThe Safety Manager is responsible for developing, leading, and executing a comprehensive safety strategy across all modular housing manufacturing facilities and field installation operations. This role ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations while fostering a culture of safety excellence. The Safety Manager will partner with leadership to reduce risk, prevent workplace injuries, and promote continuous improvement in safety performance.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement a company-wide safety vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with operational goalsLead initiatives that promote a proactive, behavior-based safety culture across manufacturing plants and field operationsServe as the subject matter expert on all safety-related mattersEnsure compliance with OSHA and all applicable regulatory requirementsMaintain and update safety policies, procedures, and programsLead and manage OSHA inspections, audits, and reporting requirementsMonitor changes in regulations and proactively adjust company policiesOversee hazard identification, risk assessments, and mitigation strategiesLead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action plansTrack, analyze, and report safety metrics (TRIR, DART, near misses, etc.)Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce workplace incidentsDesign and implement safety training programs for plant employees, field crews, and leadershipEnsure all employees receive required safety certifications and ongoing trainingDevelop leadership capability in safety accountability at all levelsEnsure safety standards are consistently applied across modular production facilities and installation sitesConduct regular site visits, audits, and inspectionsCollaborate with production and construction teams to integrate safety into daily operationsDevelop and maintain emergency response plansLead crisis management efforts related to workplace incidentsCoordinate drills and ensure readiness across all locationsPartner with HR, Operations, and Plant Leadership to align safety with business objectivesLead safety committees and employee engagement initiativesPromote a "safety-first" mindset and accountability cultureDeep knowledge of OSHA standards and workplace safety regulationsStrong leadership and change management skillsExperience in both manufacturing and construction/field environmentsAbility to analyze data and drive actionable safety improvementsExcellent communication and training skillsProven ability to influence leadership and frontline employeesStrong organizational and problem-solving abilitiesFrequent travel to manufacturing plants and job sites requiredExposure to manufacturing and construction environments, including noise, heavy equipment, and varying weather conditionsReduction in Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR)Reduction in Days Away, Restricted, or Transferred (DART) rateCompletion and effectiveness of safety training programsAudit and inspection scoresNear-miss reporting and corrective action closure ratesOpportunity to shape and lead safety in a growing modular housing organizationImpactful leadership role with visibility across the companyCommitment to employee well-being and operational excellenceVolumod offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package designed to support our employees' health, financial well-being, and work-life balance.
