Position Summary The Operations Manager is accountable for the daily execution, performance, and culture of the Solon, Ohio distribution center. This role sets the operational standard for the multi-site network by ensuring safe, efficient, and accurate execution across outbound, inventory, inbound, quality, and specialty shipping operations. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong follow-up, ownership, and the ability to address performance and behavioral issues directly. The Operations Manager is expected to drive results through people, not around them. Key Responsibilities Operational Execution Own daily performance across inbound receiving, putaway, inventory, quality assurance, and outbound operations (picking, packing, shipping). Staff planning, scheduling, and labor allocation Monitor workflow, labor allocation, and capacity planning Enforce SOPs, policies, safety and standard work across all functions Actively manage exceptions and operational disruptions Develop team leaders, promote culture and accountability Pilot and test process improvements before network rollout Manager operational spend (Labor vs Revenue, Packing Material, Supplies and Facility) Labor, Staffing & Cost Control Workforce planning, scheduling, and labor optimization Monitor payroll vs budget and take corrective action Track and control packing material usage vs budget Identify cost saving opportunities without sacrificing service or safety Leadership & Culture Lead with a solutions first mindset; problems must come with actions Avoid victim or excuse-based thinking; challenges are owned and resolved Demonstrate strong follow-up and follow-through Hold leaders and hourly team members accountable to expectations Personally handle uncomfortable performance and behavior conversations Do not defer difficult people to inexperienced supervisors or leads Coach and develop managers, supervisors, and leads Build a culture of ownership, respect, accountability, and results Leads from the front; visible and engaged on the floor Holds self and others accountable Communicates clearly and directly Follows up until issues are closed Builds leaders, not dependency Prioritizes safety, accuracy, and service over shortcuts Safety & Housekeeping Own site safety compliance and housekeeping standards Ensure safety training, audits, and corrective actions are completed Address unsafe behaviors immediately Promote a clean, organized, and professional facility Identify and lead process improvement initiatives Pilot new workflows, tools, or standards at HQ before network rollout Partner with Inventory, Inbound/QA, and Specialty Shipping leaders to improve end-to-end flow Drive standardization and scalability Performance & Accountability Own and deliver HQ KPIs Investigate missed KPIs, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions Review daily/weekly performance dashboards Partner with offshore team for accurate data and reporting Drive employee touchbases for scorecard acknowledgement and performance review Supervisors with employees 1:1s with Managers and Supervisors Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) Labor productivity (Scans/Labor Hour) Safety incident rate (Goal: zero recordables) Packing material spend vs budget Direct Reports Inventory Manager Specialty Shipping Supervisor Qualifications 5+ years of distribution center or warehouse operations leadership experience Proven experience managing multi-functional warehouse teams Strong working knowledge of outbound, inbound, inventory, and shipping operations Demonstrated ability to lead people, not just processes Comfortable addressing performance and accountability issues directly Strong analytical and problem solving skills Experience managing labor, productivity, and cost controls Why Join Us Direct hire opportunity, not through a staffing agency.
