CNC Machinist

This role is a 2nd shift CNC Machinist position based in Blairsville, PA, responsible for setting up and operating CNC mills and lathes to produce precision components for heavy industrial applications. You will use your machining knowledge, blueprint reading skills, and quality inspection experience to ensure parts meet strict specifications while working in a stable, production-focused manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC mills and CNC lathes to manufacture precision components for heavy industrial applications.
• Read and interpret blueprints, machining drawings, work instructions, and technical drawings to determine machining requirements.
• Select, install, and adjust tooling, fixtures, and machine offsets to achieve accurate and efficient machining operations.
• Perform in-process and final part inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
• Monitor machine performance during production runs and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and dimensional accuracy.
• Troubleshoot machining and production issues as they arise to minimize downtime and scrap.
• Maintain accurate production records and quality documentation in accordance with company procedures.
• Follow all safety guidelines, quality standards, and housekeeping procedures to maintain a clean and safe work area.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience setting up and operating CNC mills and/or CNC lathes.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and machining drawings accurately.
• Hands-on experience using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of machining processes.
• High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality parts.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Proficiency with CNC machine operation, including CNC setup and CNC lathe and mill operation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience machining large industrial or heavy equipment components.
• CNC programming experience is a plus.
• Technical school, trade school, or machining certification preferred.
• Prior experience working in a manufacturing or industrial production environment.
• Familiarity with using a variety of precision tools and gauges (e.g., calipers, micrometers, mics and cals).
• Comfort working with large CNC machining equipment and complex setups.

Work Environment

This position is based in an industrial manufacturing facility operating CNC machining equipment in a production environment. The schedule follows a 2nd shift, Monday through Thursday, from 2:30 PM to 12:30 AM, supporting a four-day work week. The role requires frequent standing and walking, lifting materials as needed, and working in close proximity to large CNC machinery. Employees follow all applicable safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment (PPE) while maintaining good housekeeping practices in a busy, shop-floor setting.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Blairsville, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $47840.00 - $52624.00/yr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
