Mechanical DesignerAs a Mechanical Designer, you will gain comprehensive exposure to HVAC and plumbing system design, including performing engineering calculations, developing technical specifications, and applying building codes with an advanced understanding of compliance requirements. This role involves continued development of three-dimensional Revit system modeling and the production of coordinated ductwork and piping designs. You will be entrusted with managing small to mid-sized projects from initial concept through final design, operating with minimal oversight from a senior engineer.The expected salary range for this position is $70,000 to $85,000 annually.Required QualificationsA Bachelor's degree or higher education in Mechanical Engineering or related field5+ years of job-related experienceIntermediate knowledge of Autodesk MEP Revit, Auto CADD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and OutlookAbility to design plumbing system for a small to medium size project under minimal guidance from professional engineer from start to finishWorking knowledge of HVAC systems, such as VAV systems, VRF systems, and Package rooftop systemsWorking knowledge of hydronic pipe sizing, pump selection, duct sizing and fan selectionWorking knowledge of hydronic heating system design and chilled water-cooling system designWorking knowledge of digital temperature control systemsProficient using a heating and cooling load software such as Trane TraceExcellent working knowledge of plumbing systems, such as domestic hot & cold-water systems, natural gas, and waste and vent systemsWorking knowledge of pipe sizing and layout of plumbing systemsAbility to collaborate and efficiently work on a team to produce high quality construction documents for projectsBasic knowledge of Plumbing and Mechanical Building CodesHigh level of Quality control and ability to correct design issuesClient direct communicationDid you know that some people hold back on applying to jobs if they don't meet 100% of the listed requirements? If you check most of the qualifications above and believe you could successfully do the work, we encourage you to apply!Position ResponsibilitiesConsult with the client to determine functional requirements of new or renovated systems and/or projects and prepares information regarding design, specifications, estimated costs, and construction timeCollaborate with other disciplines to produce preliminary concepts and drawings such as developing electrical coordination lists for mechanical equipmentReview shop drawings for mechanical equipment during the construction administration processPerform necessary research for design of complete systemsConduct site surveys for as-building existing HVAC and plumbing systems for input into drawingsConduct site inspections and prepares field reports for verification that installations meet design document requirementsIntegrate engineering elements into design for client review and approvalPrepare scale drawings and contract documents for contractorsComplete cost estimatesSelect equipment and prepare specificationsProvide basic research to codes and/or jurisdictional requirementsPerform engineering studies and prepare reportsComplete all necessary engineering functions to produce quality construction documentsSite travel and team meetingsWorking at Cushing TerrellCushing Terrell is a multidisciplinary design firm with 17 offices and more than 500 team members who bring together their expertise to deliver holistic built environments.
