Electrical Controls Engineer – Manufacturing (Direct Hire)

Location: Cerritos, CA

Reports To: Director of Operations

Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience ($70,000 – $80,000 target range)

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Controls Engineer to join our Engineering & Regulatory team and support the design, troubleshooting, improvement, and reliability of manufacturing electrical systems.

This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys hands-on problem solving, analyzing complex electrical issues, improving equipment performance, and working directly with manufacturing teams to develop practical solutions.

The successful candidate will take ownership of electrical engineering projects, support equipment improvements, troubleshoot control systems, and help drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve reliability, safety, and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, modify, and improve electrical systems supporting manufacturing equipment and operations
• Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, and control system issues to minimize downtime
• Perform root cause analysis and develop effective corrective actions
• Diagnose equipment failures and implement long-term solutions
• Create, review, and modify electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control documentation
• Support equipment installation, startup, commissioning, validation, and qualification activities
• Analyze equipment performance and identify opportunities for reliability improvements
• Collaborate with Maintenance, Production, Quality, and Engineering teams on technical solutions
• Develop troubleshooting guides, technical documentation, and engineering support materials
• Support compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements
• Coordinate technical requirements with certification organizations including NSF, Intertek, UL, and other agencies

Technical Experience We Value

Experience with some or all of the following:

• Industrial electrical systems
• Electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics
• Control circuits and electrical panels
• PLC troubleshooting and programming (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
• HMI systems and automation controls
• Motors, sensors, instrumentation, and electromechanical systems
• Electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• Manufacturing equipment support
• Equipment reliability improvement
• Continuous improvement methodologies

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline
• 3+ years of hands-on electrical engineering experience preferred
• Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial equipment, automation, or production systems
• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify electrical failures and develop solutions
• Experience with root cause analysis and corrective action implementation
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Manufacturing or industrial equipment experience
• PLC troubleshooting experience (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
• Experience with automation, controls, robotics, or electromechanical systems
• AutoCAD Electrical or CAD experience
• Knowledge of NEC, UL, NSF, or other regulatory requirements
• Experience with FMEA, CAPA, 5 Why, Fishbone Analysis, or similar problem-solving methods
• Experience supporting product certifications and compliance activities
• Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience
• Basic Spanish communication skills are a plus but not required
