Houston, TX (Onsite) Full-Time $54,300 - $83,300/year

Join one of the most respected healthcare systems in Texas and play a vital role in delivering exceptional surgical care. Memorial Hermann Health System is hiring Certified Surgical Technologists to support Main OR and CVOR units at the Greater Heights Hospital in Houston.

This position is ideal for a certified professional with a strong foundation in perioperative procedures, instrumentation, and patient safety who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced surgical environment.

Position Overview

The Certified Surgical Technologist provides expert perioperative patient care through the proper use of equipment, instrumentation, and aseptic technique. Working under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the technologist functions as a scrub assistant to physicians during operative and invasive procedures.

This role also serves as a resource and mentor for less experienced staff, supporting department goals and ensuring alignment with Memorial Hermann's commitment to innovation, compassion, and collaboration.

Available Shifts

Main OR: Full-Time 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM Monday-Friday + call

CVOR: Full-Time 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM (Monday) and 6:45 AM - 4:15 PM (Tuesday-Thursday) + call

Key Responsibilities

• Provide expert perioperative patient care as a scrub assistant to the physician.
• Verify availability and functionality of supplies, instruments, and equipment before each procedure.
• Apply aseptic principles to ensure optimal patient outcomes in the OR.
• Support readiness and flow of surgical cases to maintain unit efficiency.
• Deliver safe, high-quality care that aligns with organizational standards and policies.
• Promote professional growth through continuing education and skill competency.
• Serve as a resource to less experienced staff and demonstrate commitment to certification excellence.

Requirements

Education & Certifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program .
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) .
• Current CST certification through one of the following:
  • National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
  • (Please include candidate CST# and expiration date.)

Experience

• CVOR Role: Minimum 1 year of CVOR experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist.
• Main OR Role: Minimum 2 years of Main OR experience (orthopedic experience preferred).
• Surgical Center-only experience will not be considered .

Skills & Knowledge

• Demonstrates knowledge of perioperative patient care concepts and surgical instrumentation.
• Proven ability to work independently as first scrub in assigned specialty areas.
• Strong teamwork, organization, and communication skills.

Salary Range: $54,300 - $83,300/year (based on experience and skill level)

Variables include role designation (I, II, or III), years of experience, and conversion factors.
