Epic Patient Access Solution Architect

About the opportunity:

• Virtelligence is seeking an Epic Patient Access Solution Architect to support enterprise access optimization for a major academic health system. This consultant will lead future-state workflow and application design for scheduling, capacity management, infusion center access, LeanTaaS implementation, and electronic medical prior authorization (eMPA) strategy.
• This is a solution architecture role requiring deep Epic build knowledge and the ability to give analysts clear configuration direction, evaluate design alternatives, and validate the resulting build. The consultant must contribute independently from the outset, with project coordination supporting the design responsibilities.

Key responsibilities:

• Assess current workflows and design enterprise standards for scheduling, patient access, capacity utilization, and infusion access improvement.
• Translate operational requirements into Epic design specifications, workflow diagrams, build requirements, dependencies, and acceptance criteria; guide analysts and review configuration.
• Design scheduling approaches that account for appointment duration, resource availability, linked visits, and clinical and operational constraints in partnership with infusion leaders.
• Partner with clinical, operational, Epic, and vendor teams on LeanTaaS implementation and eMPA workflow strategy, including scheduling readiness and exception handling.
• Coordinate design across separate Epic environments, aligning standards while documenting instance-specific differences and downstream revenue cycle dependencies.
• Facilitate scope and governance decisions, identify design risks, and support integrated testing, user acceptance, implementation readiness, and adoption.
• Partner with operations to define baselines and measures for access, scheduling efficiency, capacity utilization, and authorization-related delays.

Required qualifications:

• Epic Cadence and Epic Grand Central certifications.
• Extensive Epic patient access design and build experience, including independent solution design and technical direction of analysts.
• Demonstrated scheduling and capacity optimization expertise in a complex, multi-site healthcare organization.
• Ability to translate clinical and operational needs into executable build specifications and communicate decisions to technical teams and senior stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

• LeanTaaS experience, particularly iQueue for Infusion Centers; infusion scheduling or oncology access experience; eMPA strategy or implementation; academic health system experience; and coordination across separate Epic instances. These are preferred, not mandatory, qualifications.
