Manager, Financial Reporting

Location(s): Chicago, Illinois Kemper is a publicly traded, multi‑billion‑dollar insurance and financial services company. We are seeking a Manager, Financial Reporting to join our Financial Reporting team at our headquarters in downtown Chicago. Position Responsibilities Assisting in preparation of Life & Health and Property & Casualty statutory‑basis financial statements (Blue Books, Yellow Books) Preparing audited financial statements and responding to inquiries from internal and external auditors Researching emerging accounting guidance and analyzing unique operational transactions to ensure appropriate accounting treatment Managing submission of state filings to various insurance bureaus and departments Reviewing the prepared work of Staff and Senior Accountants and providing meaningful feedback Designing, preparing and analyzing management reports Developing and performing ad hoc reporting, queries, and financial analyses as needed Position Qualifications 5–8 years of experience in public accounting and/or corporate financial reporting BA/BS degree in Accounting or Finance Accounting/reporting experience in the insurance industry is a strong plus CPA or CPA candidate status is a plus Effective writing skills and strong attention to detail Strong analytical, organizational, and time‑management skills Progressive thinking skills, a strong work ethic, and a knack for innovative solutions Excellent communication skills to interact with varying levels of management and professional staff Ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex accounting issues The selected candidate will work a hybrid schedule, reporting weekly to our Chicago office. Compensation range: $79,500 to $132,900. Offer determination considers experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location among other factors.
