Litigation Attorney

My client, a well respected Chattanooga based law firm, is looking for a motivated and skilled Litigation Attorney to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience in one or more of the following practice areas: commercial litigation, business litigation, construction litigation, insurance defense, or general liability. This is an opportunity to handle a variety of litigation matters, take an active role in case strategy and development, and work collaboratively with experienced attorneys in a professional legal environment. Responsibilities Manage and support litigation matters from initial case assessment through resolution, including trial when applicable. Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and other litigation documents. Draft and respond to written discovery, take and defend depositions, and assist with expert witness preparation. Develop case strategies, evaluate legal risks, and identify opportunities for favorable settlements. Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, depositions, and other litigation proceedings. Analyze contracts, insurance policies, liability issues, damages, and other evidence relevant to disputed matters. Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, courts, and other parties throughout the litigation process. Maintain organized case files, monitor deadlines, and ensure compliance with applicable court rules and procedures. Collaborate with colleagues to develop practical, cost-effective legal strategies that align with client objectives. Qualifications Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. Active license and good standing with the applicable state bar. Prior litigation experience in one or more of the following areas: Commercial litigation Business litigation General liability litigation Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills. Experience drafting pleadings, motions, discovery, and other litigation-related documents. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-focused approach. Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative legal team. Preferred Qualifications Experience handling cases through multiple stages of litigation, from pleadings and discovery through mediation, settlement, or trial. Deposition, motion practice, and courtroom experience. Familiarity with insurance coverage, construction disputes, contractual claims, or complex commercial matters, depending on practice area.
