Artificial Intelligence (AI) Ethics and Governance Senior Specialist

Merck seeks an AI Ethics and Governance Senior Specialist to develop risk assessment and governance processes for artificial intelligence systems across the organization. The role involves identifying AI risks, implementing safety testing, and establishing responsible AI policies while collaborating with stakeholders across business and technical domains.
Responsibilities
- Identify, assess, and recommend mitigations for AI-related risks in organizational projects
- Test and audit datasets, models, and AI solutions for bias, fairness, and explainability
- Guide stakeholders on AI governance processes and promote responsible AI adoption
- Develop and implement AI safety policies, technical controls, and governance frameworks
- Monitor emerging AI developments, regulatory changes, and industry best practices
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in any field
- 6+ years relevant working experience in AI ethics or responsible AI
- Deep knowledge of AI, machine learning, generative AI, and emerging technologies
- Experience with risk management, governance, or technical trust and safety
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and clear communication with senior leaders
- Background in engineering, sciences, mathematics, computer science, law, philosophy, or psychology preferred
