Basic Needs Student Care Coordinator, Office of Dean of Students

Main Work Location: Historic Stanford Campus Schedule: Hybrid (4 days per week on site) Budgeted Salary Range: The expected pay range for this position is $94,998 to $100,000 per annum. The Basic Needs Student Care Coordinator provides non-clinical case management and basic needs coordination for the Dean of Students (DoS) Office and First Generation and/or Low Income Student Success Center (FLISSC). Reporting directly to the Senior Associate Dean of Students, with dotted-line relationship to the Associate Dean and Director of FLISSC, the Basic Needs Student Care Coordinator works closely with both the DoS and FLISSC teams to provide follow-up and logistical support to individual students and to student groups; connect students to basic needs resources and community-based support; coordinate, and implement services that fosters community, promotes belonging, and supports student success. Responsibilities Provide case management and individualized support to students experiencing basic needs challenges, including food insecurity, housing instability, financial hardship, mental health, caregiving responsibilities, and related concerns. Serve as the primary liaison between the Dean of Students Office and the First-Generation and/or Low-Income Student Success Center (FLISSC), ensuring coordinated support for students and seamless collaboration across both offices. Connect students to campus and off-campus community resources, advocate on their behalf, and collaborate with campus partners to address barriers to student well-being and academic success. Administer key basic needs initiatives, including the Student Emergency Fund and Basic Needs Pantry, while maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with university policies and procedures. Design, implement, and assess programs, outreach efforts, and educational initiatives that foster belonging, resilience, and student success, particularly for first-generation, low-income, former foster youth, and other under-resourced student populations. Develop and maintain strategic partnerships, evaluate program outcomes using data and assessment, and contribute to the continuous improvement of campus-wide basic needs services and support. Assist with Dean of Students administrative operations, case management systems, and the development and implementation of the Dean of Students policies and the development and implementation of relevant policies and procedures. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of the challenges faced by and proven ability to work with a diverse population of students. Understanding of the needs of under-resourced populations including but not limited to low-income students, students from foster youth backgrounds, first-generation students, student parents/families, undocumented and DACAmented students, and international students among both undergraduate and graduate/professional student populations. Appreciation for the nuances of working within a highly selective residential institution, and ability to assist students in navigating this environment. Demonstrated knowledge of issues surrounding socioeconomic class, identity and intersectionality. Proven ability to interact with a diverse population of faculty, staff, alumni, and families. Experience in collaborative work with other professional colleagues. Advanced skills as a student affairs professional, including expertise in facilitating student learning, development, and success. Demonstrated skills in critical incident and crisis management. Solid knowledge of mental health issues in the college and graduate/professional student population.
