Job Title: Shipper and Receiver Job Description

This role focuses on safely and efficiently loading and unloading trucks, accurately documenting shipments by hand, and supporting receiving activities throughout the day. You will work on-site in a plant environment, operating a sit-down Toyota forklift and handling materials to ensure smooth and timely movement of goods.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload 47 trucks per day in a safe, efficient, and timely manner.

• Operate a sit-down Toyota forklift to move, stack, and organize materials throughout the plant.

• Handle materials manually and with equipment such as pallet jacks to support shipping and receiving operations.

• Write up loads by hand, ensuring all shipment information is accurate and clearly documented.

• Assist with receiving tasks during downtime, including checking incoming goods and organizing materials in designated areas.

• Follow all safety procedures and guidelines while operating forklifts and handling materials.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area within the shipping and receiving department.

• Communicate effectively with team members and other departments to coordinate truck loading and unloading activities.

Essential Skills

• At least 2 years of experience operating a sit-down forklift in a shipping, receiving, or material handling environment.

• Valid forklift certification, with demonstrated ability to operate a sit-down forklift safely and efficiently.

• Experience with shipping and receiving processes, including loading, unloading, and verifying shipments.

• Ability to perform material handling tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs as part of daily duties.

• Comfort using pallet jacks and related material handling equipment.

• Ability to accurately write up loads by hand and maintain clear, legible documentation.

• Strong attention to safety when operating forklifts and handling materials.

• Reliability to work Monday through Friday from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with hazmat or hazmat safety procedures is an asset.

• Willingness to learn and receive training on hazmat safety and other plant-specific procedures.

• Strong communication skills to coordinate with drivers, coworkers, and other departments.

• Ability to work independently and stay productive during downtime by assisting with receiving and other tasks.

• Organizational skills to keep shipping and receiving areas orderly and efficient.

Work Environment

This is a full-time, on-site role in a plant environment with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. You will spend most of the day in the shipping and receiving area, frequently operating a sit-down Toyota forklift and using pallet jacks and other material handling equipment. The work involves regular lifting of up to 50 lbs and moving materials throughout the facility. The environment is typical of an industrial plant, with active loading docks, truck traffic, and material handling operations. Appropriate work attire suitable for a plant setting is expected, with adherence to all safety guidelines and use of required protective equipment.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
