Customs Entry Writer Salary: $50k to $65k depending on experience. Benefits include 401k, dental insurance, health insurance, life insurance, paid time off, and vision insurance. Candidate Profile Knowledge of international import transportation, import brokerage procedures, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (“Customs”), and Participating Government Agency (“PGA”) requirements, including clearance, classification and valuation. Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi‑task, and knowledge to produce accurate workflow in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure freight forwarding operations environment while positively contributing to the team. Primary responsibilities include managing accounts from A to Z, preparing all documentation necessary to clear merchandise through Customs and any applicable PGA, providing excellent, thorough, and prompt customer service, and performing tasks assigned by the Manager, Supervisor, or Team Lead as needed. Responsibilities Prepare arrival notices, set up opening files. Input data obtained from agents and freight forwarders. File customs entries for clearance. Work with Customs and other government agencies to obtain release. Provide customer service. Billing First involvement includes ISF filing (import security filing) and bill of lading responsibilities—ensuring the title, payment status, value, and regulations for each cargo. Customs entries are filed to the PGA (Partner Government Agency) and must comply with government guidelines for release. Work with CBP (Custom Border Protection), quarantine issues, and handle fees and duty taxes. Documents uploaded to U.S. Customs include commercial packing list, bill of lading, certificate of origin, and other required paperwork.
