You must have completed an accredited surgical technologist program, with graduation from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). Certification as a Surgical Technologist is preferred. At least one year of recent operating room experience is recommended. Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems is helpful. Strong skills in sterile technique, instrument handling, and teamwork are essential. The ability to adapt quickly to new surgical teams and procedures is important.
